Lucifixion was started in 1990 by two 7th graders Jeremiah
Riley and Shane Seegert. Jeremiah had been playing drums for three years and
Shane decided he felt most comfortable with a bass. Soon after, Corey Howard
joined as the band's first guitar player. At this point, the band was more
talk than action, but soon began trying to cover various artists. It wasn't
until a year later that a mutual friend, Brian Bascom, joined as the second
guitarist. Over a short period of time, various situations led to Brian and
Jeremiah being the soul members of the band. It was at this point they stopped
trying to play covers and began writing their own music. The first song emerging
was entitled "Fatal Ignorance." After a few more songs were written,
Lucifixion came across 14 year old bassist Scott Wehman.
In early 1993, with six completed songs, the three piece
headed into a new studio (Strawberry Fields) to record their debut demo tentatively
titled "Demon Sacrifice." The band had no singer at this point,
so Jeremiah recorded the vocals. They submitted this demo to WXUT, a college
radio station in Toledo, OH. Through this broadcast, Lucifixion was first
heard outside of the basement, and it also led to vocalist T.J. Huling. With
T.J. in place, the group re-recorded the six song demo. They released it in
1994 on cassette under the title "Born Into Death." All 300 copies
were sold within the year.
That same year, with the demo released, Lucifixion played
their first live show at Club Bijou. They have been playing in and around
the Toledo area ever since. The most memorable gig the band has ever played
was in 1994 when they opened for Cannibal Corpse during "The Bleeding"
tour. Soon after that performance, fan and roadie Andy Hamlet joined the band
as its first lead guitar player. This five piece line up was short lived due
to parting ways with T.J. At this time, it was decided that Jeremiah would
once again be the band's vocalist. In 1996, Lucifixion released their first
full length album "Indulge In The Macabre." The CD included six
new songs as well as four songs from the "Born Into Death" demo.
Since the release of the album, the group has gone through many line up changes. To compliment their musical direction, Lucifixion chose to incorporate a female singer. With one last line up change this past year, the current Lucifixion consists of: Jeremiah Riley - Drums/Lead Vocals, Andy Hamlet - Lead Guitar, Larry Ray – Bass, Maria Seeburger- Lead Female Vocals, and Austin Waidelich – Rhythm Guitar. At the time of this bio, Lucifixion has put the finishing touches on a 3 song EP entitled "As Evil As Me". This EP showcases Lucifixion's evolution since "Indulge In The Macabre."
